Arctic terns have the longest migration of all birds – a round trip of up to 35,000km (22,000 miles) each year. This is an illustration of them in fight through the waves, created for my RSPB Book. Arctic terns feed in shallow coastal waters on small fish such as sand-eels, and nest on beaches and off-shore islands. We see them on our Suffolk trips but more often it is the Common Terns that we watch fishing from out boat.
