Bittern and Wetlands
The Bittern has been on the brink of disappearing from Britain, but it’s great to hear they are now making a comeback. I discovered this whilst reading the editorial text for this image about the Somerset Levels for the series ‘Reading the Landscape’, commissioned by Country Living Magazine. The Wetlands of the Wevels now have more than 80 breeding pairs and if you’re a lucky visitor, you will hear their booming call from deep within the reeds.
